Corteiz tease new collaboration with rapper, 21 Savage.
Corteiz owner @Clint419 on instagram, or simply known as Clint, has recently teased a new collaboration with rapper 21 Savage.
The 27 year old launched the brand back in 2017, and has amassed a following of 1.3 million followers on the brand’s instagram page, and 600k followers on his personal instagram page (at the time of writing). After collaborations with massive worldwide brands, such as Nike, and huge names in the streetwear space, like Supreme, Clint seems to be moving his efforts onto British-born rapper 21 Savage.
Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, known professionally as 21 Savage (or ’21’), was born in London, and raised out of Atlanta, Georgia. After starting his music career with multiple independent mixtapes, 21 is now an acclaimed artist worldwide, with multiple nominations and awards in the music industry, including a grammy he won in 2019 with his hit song ‘A Lot’, that peaked at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100, featuring vocals from industry veteran J. Cole.
21 was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) back in February 2019. He then confirmed that he left the UK at 7 years old and began to live in America, where he overstayed his legal stay, when his visa expired in 2006, and discovered he needed to apply for a new visa in 2017. 21 has since visited the UK, and has a European tour coming up in July, including shows in Manchester, Birmingham, and London.
With his recent studio album ‘The American Dream’, which peaked at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, brought along his hit song ‘Redrum’. The music video for the hard-hitting rap song went back to 21’s roots, being filmed in Brixton, South London. With Corteiz being known for its influence by British culture, collaborating with 21 Savage seems to make perfect sense.
On Clint’s instagram, they are both pictured with what can be assumed as 21’s entourage, with the brand’s classic alcatraz logo and 21’s iconic knife tattoo paired together on shorts and hoodies respectively. ‘Slaughter gang’ (21’s music label, which he founded) is written on the tees and bottoms too, making the collaboration distinctive to the American rapper. This isn’t the first time that Clint has worked with a rapper, as he released a limited edition t-shirt with UK rapper Central Cee in 2022, to commemorate his mixtape ’23’.
The only question now is, will we see the collaboration released anytime soon, or even at all, as Clint tends to often tease pieces that are only ever worn by him and his crew, and sometimes never sold in mass; only time will tell.
